The restaurant

The traditional stone barn built around 1700 has been simply and sympathetically converted using natural materials, keeping a country feel to the restaurant.

The oak flooring in the restaurant is from a tree on the farm. The staircase and window cills are made from a cedar tree which used to be beside the farmhouse. The spectacular elm roof beams are original and still have wooden pegs in the joints.

Natural wood furnishings and Sue’s striking black and white photographs of nature provide a contemporary country atmosphere.

The bar on the ground floor has a top made from our own cedar and the brick base has been built from the original bricks which were on the floor of the barn. On the floor of the kitchen we found bricks with the local makers names on them, these will also be part of the bar.

The stone walls around the patio have been built with stone from the farm to match with the barn's beautiful red Quantock stone. The south facing patio has wonderful views across the valley and is a perfect sun trap. Imagine a leisurely Sunday lunch sitting in the sun with a glass of wine watching the buzzards soaring above the wood ..
