The food
Somerset has some of the best produce in the country and the restaurant is committed to selecting the very best local growers and suppliers for its food.
Wherever possible home- grown produce will be used, especially beef. Cross bred Limousins are born on the farm and carefully reared on grass in summer and home grown cereals and silage in winter. The beef is hung for 3 weeks to give optimum taste and tenderness. When the menu features beef from the farm, it is stated as Clavelshay Beef on the menu. If it does not say Clavelshay it means that we have bought it from our local butcher. As you will appreciate, there are only so many steaks on one animal and therefore when we have used all of ours we do have to buy some locally.
The menu is deliberately small to ensure that all dishes can be prepared and cooked to order using fresh ingredients. All dishes are made here at Clavelshay Barn including bread made daily. The menu is changed each month to make best use of seasonal produce.
Examples of the food we use are shown on the next page ...
