Coffee & Cake Morning Fundraiser

We had a lovely time yesterday at our Coffee & Cake Fundraiser for the Children's Hospice South West. We were spoilt with an array of the most amazing cakes made by Sue. Her Apple Cake is a must try! Thank you to all that came along and donated generously and helped us raise money for this fantastic charity. A special thanks to Vivien Lloyd who donated wine and a hamper filled to the brim with her incredibly delicious preserves. A huge thanks to Jane Young who donated her very own delectable homemade preserves, and Mrs Foster for her donation of beautiful homegrown medlars which Sue will soon be turning into Medlar Jelly to sell at the restaurant. And not forgetting, the very lovely Tricia Canham from the beautiful Pool House Boutique B&B in Woolavington, who helped us with everything from selling raffle tickets, cutting up cakes, and cleaning up.

We will continue selling the homemade preserves in the restaurant over the next month for The £50 Challenge. Everyone is more than welcome to join in and help us by making preserves for us to sell at Clavelshay Barn – all proceeds will be donated to Children’s Hospice South West.

Marmalade maestro and preserve expert  Vivien Lloyd's hamper which was filled with all her amazing preserves, and the yummiest, most unusual marmalade we have ever tasted - Lime & Cacao.

Vivien is a lady with a mission – to encourage all B & B owners and hoteliers in the south west to make their own marmalade , and also to encourage entrants into the Marmalade Awards 2014 . Although, you don’t have to run a hotel or B&B to come along, it’s for everyone who loves that bittersweet taste and who wants to learn how to make it for themselves. There is nothing like home-made marmalade.

Our coffee morning fundraiser for The Children's Hospice South West is tomorrow morning! Sue is busy cooking up a cake storm in the kitchen and there are delectable aromas of Apple Cake and Sue's famous Lemon Drizzle Cake wafting all around the restaurant. We’ve also been busy making wonderfully delicious preserves and will be selling them tomorrow to raise funds for this amazing charity  – all proceeds will go to CHSW.

Britain's Preserve Queen will also be joining us, the brilliant Vivien Lloyd! Vivien will be giving us a taster of her Marmalade Mission Masterclass on the morning free of charge. You will be able to buy Viv’s book First Preserves – - “the recipes work every time”

A Marmalade Mission Masterclass Taster :

The launch for the Marmalade Mission Masterclass 2014 will be a coffee morning to be held on Tuesday 19 November 2013 10.30-12pm free of charge at Clavelshay Barn when Vivien Lloyd will be present to have a chat and answer any questions you may have. There will also be goodies made with marmalade to showcase its unique flavour and versatility.

Clavelshay Barn Restaurant is taking part in The £50 Challenge to raise funds for Childrens Hospice South West and will be selling preserves at the coffee morning- all proceeds will go to CHSW.
