Rain, rain and more rain - yet my farmers are happy . They have been desperate for rain for weeks if not months. But even they have had enough now, as rain has stopped play on the maize planting and silage making. It has stopped my gardening although I can still spuddle with spaniels in the polytunnel. They are not helpful, lying on the ground where I want to dig. Salad leaves are ready for picking so will need to sow some more. Have put in mange touts, celeriac, coriander, parsley, calendula, cornflowers this week. Ruddy slugs have had 2 pepper plants and an aubergine in the tunnel - let war commence ..
This week have been researching edible flowers to use as garnishes so expect to see some on your plates soon. This was after being inspired by the Taste of the West producers show at Westpoint on Monday. where I had a great day eating and drinking my way around. Found a new cheese supplier who I am delighted with, potentially a new coffee machine supplier , bought some Cornish slate cheeseboards - good day out ! Found a cracking new gin produced in Gloucestershire by Bramley & Gage - 6 o' Clock gin - it's so good I can't wait until 6 O' clock to try it !
