Jodie & Alex came to see me last year enquiring about a wedding at Clavelshay Barn .
Jodie had her heart set on a blessing in the garden overlooking the valley and a picnic in the grounds with family and friends sharing a perfect picnic from wicker baskets . No problem for us – we hadn’t done one before but it’s another challenge that we can undertake..
There was just one slight problem – the unpredictable English weather ! This summer has been a real stinker with more rain than any of us can remember. The forecast did not look good so we had a plan B – if weather poor we would have the ceremony and picnic in the marquee.
Cometh the day – cometh the rain – it poured and I mean poured late morning and into early afternoon. We jointly made the decision to hold the ceremony in the marquee (which Nadine had set out with chairs) and as Jodie walked into the marquee with her very proud father the sun came out and it stayed out for the rest of the day.
It was warm enough for the intrepid picnickers to sit outside on rugs and it was a lovely , lovely atmosphere . After the picnic, music from Coble & the Comets with groom Alex on guitar and later in the evening , after hot pasties, music from Lush with Alex again on guitar.
Another fantastic wedding – I can’t believe how lucky we were with the weather as it poured again most of Sunday., Monday ,Tuesday …Big congrats to Jodie + Alex and thanks so much for letting us be a part of your fun picnic wedding.
The sun starts shines as Jodie and her father walk into the marquee
Despite the original plan to have the blessing in the garden, the large sun-drenched marquee was a lovely space for the joyful Handfasting blessing
After the blessing, all the guests headed to the garden and Jodie and Alex had some fun with their Handfasting rope
Whilst everyone was enjoying the sunshine and pimms outside, Nadine and Alex quickly transformed the marquee back into a lovely space to eat and celebrate in whilst Guy and I prepared the picnic hampers
Jodie and Alex's cute heart-shaped picnic basket given to them by their closest friends.
The cute little kiddie picnic baskets
The adults picnic hampers filled with locally produced food and our own homemade bread, chutneys and pate
The happy picnickers enjoying the lovely sunshine and delicious food
Alex's talented mum not only made all the bunting, she also made these gorgeous cupcakes and wedding cake
At the end of the night Alex and his band Lush had everyone on the dance floor.
A fun ending to such a wonderful wedding!
