Preparations for Saturday's wedding were all going to plan, everything in line, food and drink sorted, marquee up and decorated, feeling very pleased with myself and then .. the immortal words ... " Sue, I think we have a problem !"
Disaster very late Friday night .Four inches of water on the floor of the ladies loo-. had to mop up (thanks, Alex) and then turn water off . Frightening prospect of a wedding for 100 guests the following day with no water. Couldn't get anyone then so went to bed. Up at 6am looking for a plumber - eventually found one at 7.30pm. Water all over the floor of the bar area when I went into the restaurant - another mop up. Plumber came at 10.30am and found a leak in a pipe in the ceiling of the ladies loo. Thank you ... Guy Cresswell my knight in shining armour (or jeans and t shirt)
Back to the wedding - have been looking forward to this one - Lisa & Martin. Bride, groom and family arrived by tractor and trailer driven by James Bacon, bride's brother. Volis Hill posed a bit of a challenge en-route but all made it safely.
James arriving at Clavelshay, driving his Allis Chalmers tractor with bridal party in trailer
Lisa looked beautiful and stunning in her Sassi Holford dress, bridesmaids in soft green . Spitting with rain when they arrived so had drinks and canapes in the barn. Then the rain stopped so everyone went outside for photos and to play games, skittles, croquet ... Time to eat - sit down meal in the beautifully decorated marquee. Food, drink, laughter ,speeches, barn dance , hog roast and then a disco - a great day !
Flowers from Jan Waters (www.jwblooms.co.uk ) simply perfect - all grown by Jan.
The day after
Congratulations Lisa & Martin!
